"Eposovedenie" was founded in 2016 as a series of the "Vestnik of NEFU " at the M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Previous title: “Vestnik of the M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University. Series: Epic Studies”. The first editor-in-chief was Ivanov Vasily Nikolaevich – the first director of the Olonkho Research Institute of the M.K. Ammosov NEFU, Doctor of History, Professor. In 2019, the journal was included in “The list of peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences and for the degree of doctor of science should be published”. Since 2021, it has become an independent scientific publication with the short title “Eposovedenie”. The journal accepts articles in the following areas (according to the Higher Attestation Commission nomenclature): 5.9. Philology: 5.9.4. Folklore Studies, and 5.9.5. Russian Language. Languages of the Peoples of Russia. Since 2024, the journal has been indexed in the international database Scopus (Q1 – Cultural Studies, Q2 – Anthropology and Linguistics and Language).
